![]() Western gets NDSU back on its schedule this year, they also have dates with Minnesota, South Dakota State and UNI.BROOKLYN, N.Y. Hendrickson has his work cut out for him, but he already has gone a different route than the previous staff, actually recruiting high school players rather than sign FBS transfers. WIU won two football games last year and said goodbye to four year starter at quarterback Connor Sampson. Western Illinois - The Leathernecks are the only team in the league with a new coach as former player Myers Hendrickson takes over. They still have Dante Hendrix to throw the ball to, but this could be a long year for the Sycamores, who will host Montana and NDSU this fall.ġ1. Cade Chambers, a redshirt freshman and Gavin Screws, a redshirt sophomore, are in competiton for the job. ![]() ISU has four new coaches on its staff, and has a quarterback battle on its hands for the fall. Mallory hired Mike Bath to be his new offensive coordinator, he comes from Western Michigan after being its running back coach. Crenshaw is paired with all-league running back Jaleel McLaughlin, who ran for over 1700 yards and 16 touchdowns last season.Ĭurt Mallory's team was 5-6 last year and just like the teams he's coached in Terre Haute, they are always competitive. YSU found a quarterback in Demeatric Crenshaw, who is a dual-threat and earned his way onto the All-Newcomer team last year. Youngstown State - I was close to flip flopping YSU and Illinois State, because I like what Doug Phillips is doing with the Penguins. Keep an eye on Central Arkansas transfer Deandre Lamont, an outstanding defensive back who has been a two-time first team player in the Atlantic Sun.ĩ. They end with two road games in Fargo and Brookings. Annexstad will try to be that, with a tough opening game at Wisconsin. The Redbirds have been searching for a consistent quarterback since Tre Roberson left. He never got his job back as Tanner Morgan took over from there. Annexstad started the first seven games of the 2018 season for PJ Fleck before he got hurt. Spack didn't hesitate to make some changes, hiring a new offensive coordinator and dipping into the portal to try and find a new quarterback, adding former Minnesota Gopher Zach Annexstad. The offensive line and defensive line are still works in progress and Tommy Schuster needs to find a way to get back to where was in the spring of 2021. They have to replace former All-American running back Otis Weah and have high hopes in Isaiah Smith to do that. ![]() They were in so many games (SIU, Mo State, NDSU, SDSU) and didn't win any of them. North Dakota - The Fighting Hawks 2021 season could be described as "What If?". If they can somehow be 3-2 and steal a game that they're not supposed to win, another playoff appearance could be in the offing.ħ. The Coyotes could be 1-4 out of that stretch. At Kansas State, at Montana, home for Cal Poly and NDSU and then at South Dakota State. Long time linebacker Jack Cochrane has finally moved on and the Coyotes will need to find the next guy to step up. ![]() Running back Travis Theis is a good threat, but there is a lack of experience at wide receiver. #WeAreSouthDakota x #GoYotes□ /LrMyZrYVHk- South Dakota Football October 2, 2021īob Nielson likes his quarterback in Carson Camp, who was never the same after getting hurt against Illinois State in the middle of the season. Avante Cox is a tremendous wide receiver and he returns to be one of the best deep threats in the Valley. Javon Williams seems like he has been in Carbondale for ten years, but he's a senior this year and one of the toughest backs to bring down. Nic Baker improved as a quarterback as the season went along, throwing for 3200 yard and 27 touchdowns. They lost a ton of experience from that squad, guys that had played five or six years of football for the Salukis. Southern Illinois - Nick Hill's team played a lot of football in 2021, a total of 23 games. I would bet on hearing from UNI as a playoff contender come November.ĥ. Two games in September may tell us how UNI fares, at North Dakota and then host the Big Sky champs in Sacramento State. The Panthers also don't play the Bison this fall, and host SDSU. The Panthers lost tremendous cornerback Omar Brown to Nebraska, but Benny Sapp III is back on the backend. UNI has some great talent on offense, Deion McShane, Dom Williams and Quan Hampton. #EverLoyal /tBYxg3rw7j- UNI Football November 20, 2021 3Q | That throw! That snag! And straight to the end zone for Sam Schnee.
